Help Joyful Thai to better serve our communities

Joyful Thai is a small mobile family food business that was started in August 2018 in Tonasket WA by Joy Linscott, an immigrant from Thailand. We’re based in Okanogan county, the most economically challenged county in our state. As you are well aware, many of our fellow community members and small businesses have been hit very hard by the COVID-19 crisis. We, along with many others, have lost our dine-in sales, had our take-out sales drop significantly, and in addition, we have lost one of our weekly venues due to the shut down. As a result, we have had to reduce employee hours drastically and our ability to serve our communities has been greatly hindered.
The $20,000 we are trying to raise would go towards a down payment on a properly organized food trailer, which will help in numerous ways. It would have a kitchen that would be better suited to our style of food service, which would allow us to shorten serve times. Also, the weather in our county can be extreme, and a temperature controlled work place would provide a safer, more comfortable work environment for our staff. We plan on incorporating a digital menu board, which would provide a better customer ordering experience. It would also allow us to spend more time serving and less time setting up and tearing down. We currently spend up to five hours a day setting up, tearing down, and cleaning for each of our venues, and having a food trailer would cut that time spent in more than half, enabling us to to stay open more hours to serve you better. As the only Thai food in the area, many customers have related disappointment or frustration due to the lack of our availability, as they can’t get to us before we close for the night, or have to travel long distances to reach us. The increased mobility a food trailer provides would allow us to meet those customers closer to their homes and places of work and we could extend our hours of operation. Any extra money above and beyond our goal would only help us serve more communities, because our ultimate goal is to have multiple food trailers in several locations to serve several communities in Okanogan County on a more regular basis. Even though our future plans for Joyful Thai have been put on hold due to the shutdown, with your help, we know we can get through this and become the business we envision in the near future.
We at Joyful Thai would like to thank all of our customers, both past and present, for your overwhelming love and support for both our family and our small business over the past 2 years. We can not thank you enough for your continued support, your thoughtful comments about Joy’s Thai food and what it means for us to be a part of your community. Thank you all so much!
