JT Story
Many of you have followed the story of our local warrior 26 year old JT Holmes.
(Read JT’s story at the end of this post)
JT is battling cancer yet again.
What this young man has already experienced going from being an energetic, giving young adult to facing the ugliness of cancer being virtually lifeless, helpless yet continuing the fight as hard as he can to live.
The cost of the trips back & forth can be one part of the stress that we can help with..
Whatever way you are led to support this young man please do as he and his family need us to wrap our arms around them & support them in anyway we possibly can.
Our goal is to not only fill the tank full of gas to get to and from Lexington, but to fill his heart full of love & encouragement.
As I stated in the beginning.. ‘Tis the Season.. the season of giving… the season of thankfulness.
Let’s do this together as we are meant to do!
Thanks for whatever you are willing to contribute. ❤️❤️❤️
THE Life & Battle of JT HOLMES.
(Written by JT’s family)
For those of u wandering Who is JT Holmes?
JT was born October 21 1996 in Campbellsville KY! Son of Angie and Glenn Holmes and the Grandson of Allen Holmes ( Holmes Carpet Cleaning )
JT played youth baseball, soccer, football, basketball and anything else he could get involved in..
JT is an alumni of Campbellsville High School Class of 2015 where he played basketball but stood out on the baseball field as a pitcher, catcher and the hot corner (3rd base). He signed to play baseball at Georgetown College and continued his education and baseball career.
JT is well known throughout the community with helping with sports teams, from giving pitching lessons to pep talks to basic fundamental trainings. He did this for the love of the game and for the kids coming up, all on his time all for free. He umpired local and distance games at various parks around the state.
When Covid hit JT contracted the virus and it appeared to be all his body could handle. Started having severe hip pains which was being treated as an old sports injury. This went on for several months of being treated this way. Then one day he woke up and was having severe pain along with issues breathing. He was transported to the hospital where a battery of test were run. The drs came in to ask how long he had been sick. He told them again about the hip being 7-8 months of pain. The dr then stopped him and asked,”So you think you’re healthy”? Your CT was like looking at a Christmas tree. He was then transported to Hardin Memorial because they could do nothing locally for him. After several days of test it came back that his body was riddled with an extremely rare type of childhood bone cancer. It showed his hip was being held to get her by the tumor. He also had it in 3 different ribs, both lungs, sternum, 6 vertebrae and a location in the scalp.
JT was then transferred to UK children’s hospital who specialized in treating this. Chemo began almost immediately. 14 rounds of some of the most toxic chemo you can have. During this if there was anything he could get sick from he did. Staph infection in the blood, humanmetanoma virus, meningitis, and he became Sypsis at one point. They had clergy on call during sypsis because they wasn’t sure he would survive it. He had 31 rounds of radiation on his left hip. 10 rounds on his lungs 25 rounds on his right hip. It has now been discovered that he has it back in his head. It’s attached to the skull and growing down into the brain. It is pushing into the area that affects his motor skills. The plan is uncertain at this point although he will start radiation to the brain on 11/14. He will be having a full body CT to check for anymore cancer. Could be more chemo or chemo and brain surgery. Plus we have wrecked our main means of transportation. Please keep saying prayers PlEASE SHARE to help awareness…#JTStrong #cancer #cancersupport
