Juan and Miguel León Cortez are Tatas (Mayan spiritual guides) and artists known as "the Twins" from Chichicastenango, Guatemala. They are raising funds to support in a difficult situation they are facing.

The Twins were the central image in courses and agreed to one-time use of their footage for live courses. But the Twins feel that they didn't receive fair compensation for their contributions to a very high-earning program. They never signed a contract for continued use of their footage and haven't been paid royalties.
The Twins asked for their content to be removed and to be properly compensated, but the Twins were refused and then blocked.
In addition to getting legal help, the Twins want to recover their losses. They are also concerned about the well-being of other Mayan indigenous people and want to prevent them from being exploited. And they want to prevent people abroad from being deceived when trying to learn about the Mayan Cosmovision from founders who don't have the real authority to teach about it.

ABOUT THE FUNDRAISER ORGANIZERS:
The Twins asked Enjoly Mar Garcia and Nick Meador for help in telling their story and running the fundraiser. Enjoly lives primarily in Guatemala and has been working with the Twins for a decade. Nick and Enjoly have worked together for many years, and he met the Twins for the first time in March 2024. Nick is based in Oregon, USA, and will receive the funds to forward them to the Twins via an international bank transfer. All proceeds (minus any GoFundMe and bank transfer feeds) will be sent to the Twins. Nick and Enjoly will not receive any of the funds from this fundraiser. Later the Twins will share a video update to confirm that they have receive the funds.

Juan y Miguel León Cortez son Tatas (guías espirituales mayas) y artistas conocidos como "los Gemelos" de Chichicastenango, Guatemala. Están recaudando fondos para apoyar en la difícil situación que enfrentan.
Los Gemelos fueron la imagen central en los cursos y acordaron usar una sola vez sus imágenes para cursos en vivo. Pero los Gemelos sienten que no recibieron una compensación justa por sus contribuciones a un programa con ingresos muy altos. Nunca firmaron un contrato para el uso continuo de su metraje y no les pagaron regalías.
Los Gemelos pidieron que se eliminara su contenido y que se les compensara adecuadamente, pero los Gemelos fueron rechazados y luego bloqueados.
