Help Juan Lugo's family medical bills
Hi,
We've organized a fundraiser for a long-time friend to The Link, Juan Lugo. Juan has done contract work for us at The Link for nearly 20 years in our showrooms. and he's done a ton of work at our own homes as well (mine included).
Juan his wife, Cristina, have two awesome sons, Dylan (18) and Brandon (21) that we've watched grow up over the years. It's a beautiful family. This gofundme campaign is being organized to help the Lugo family with ongoing medical bills. Anything you can contribute is greatly appreciated. Juan did not ask for this to be set up. Please read below.
Thank you and God bless-

This is their story in Juan's words.
On February 2nd, 2020 Dylan (then 17) went outside for an afternoon walk with our dog. This was a normal day and Dylan was doing a normal thing. Dylan took his skateboard with him as he often did on a dog walk. 15 minutes after he left our neighbor came to our house, frantically knocking our door, was very upset and told Cristina and I that Dylan had "some type of accident" and fell off his skateboard. We immediately went to check on Dylan and he was in bad shape. He had a serious head injury from hitting his head on the sidewalk. We rushed to the hospital where the doctors told us he had suffered a traumatic brain injury. We were completely shocked and extremely nervous and scared. We didn't know what to do! All we could do was pray and be thankful that Dylan was still with us, but we were very fearful.
Dylan then spent nearly 100 straight days in the hospital and went through many procedures. Things became even more challenging with Covid pandemic and the necessary restrictions. Many, many days we could only have 1 parent visiting our son. It's been extremely difficult going through the last year with Dylan's injury and the pandemic too. Brandon had to drop out of college to help with the therapy for Dylan. Cristina and I have had to constantly juggle work. But, Dylan is doing remarkably better and progressing. He still has a long way to go. The brain trauma was severe so he's having to re-learn a lot of things and many basic tasks, like eating, walking, writing, etc. Just last week had another operation to keep eyesight in one of his eyes.
Our lives changed in an instant but we thank God that He had mercy on us to keep Dylan alive. We're uncertain about his future but we keep pressing forward, praying, and taking things day by day. We are grateful and very hopeful!
