Help Juan Sosa recover from broken back surgery
On March 27th my father, Juan Sosa experienced a horrible accident. He fell from a 14 foot ladder and broke his back in 2 places, while working and trimming a customer’s tree. He was airlifted to the hospital and went into surgery. One week after his first surgery he was having further nerve complications and had to go into a 2nd emergency surgery. He spent a total of two weeks in the hospital.
He is now home beginning his recovery process. He is relearning how to walk and working through extreme nerve damage. This will be a long journey for him and for us as a family. His surgeries seem to have gone well and we are praying for the best although we accept that it will be 6-12 months to get an accurate idea of his long term recovery.
This has been a challenging time to say the least. My father is a labor worker and has been working in lawn care for over 10 years. It’s a business he built from the ground up with his bare hands. There’s one thing that people could never deny about my father - that he is one of the hardest working people you’ve ever met. He has maintained this work ethic since he fled Cuba as a teenager. He is now 63 and doesn’t have insurance and also does not qualify for Medicaid. He is unable to work now as his job is very physically demanding by definition.
I am reaching out asking for support from our community to help my father and family get through this difficult time. Our financial goal is only a fraction of the expenses we are incurring but my hope is that this will at least help with the most urgent of necessities.
This has been a humbling experience and it’s challenging to even share his story and ask for help.
I am reaching to all of our loved ones, family, chosen family and anyone who has an abundance of love in their hearts and who feel obliged to help. The funds will be used to help my father’s recovery and to stay afloat. My father will be going through physical and neurological therapy and rehabilitation. He will also be working with various specialists as there are several complications from his injury that require longterm care. He is taking an array of medications and will need to continue his regiment for several months. The funds will also help with supplies he needs at home to assist him with bathing and overall hygiene.
We greatly appreciate anything you can give. No donation is too small. We know it’s been a challenging time for us all. Thank you for your kindness, generosity, love and prayers. We welcome all the positive energy and support.
