Help Judy Morris Overcome Ovarian Cancer

Donation protected
I’m Natalie and I’m creating this page on behalf of my mother.
My mom was diagnosed with ovarian cancer stage 3C on June 28th.
After several months of unknown health issues, having troubling eating, and doctor visits/tests, my family found out the devastating news that my mom is battling with cancer.

My mom is one of the most cheerful and positive people I know. She never stays down for long and is always smiling. Even on the day of her diagnosis, she tried to stay positive to help shield us from the pain. Through all that she has been through she is able to keep her spirits high. It’s her superpower. She is so strong and a shining light.
My mom never hesitates to show kindness at every turn, and she would do anything for anyone. It’s easy to see that she is loved by so many for her kind heart. During this summer some of the neighbors were very sweet to cut her grass for her and she immediately brought them over fresh zucchini bread to thank them. She is always giving even when she doesn’t have much.

As a single mom, my mom has done everything for my brother and I. Her journey has been far from easy but she has done everything to make sure we were taken care of. It is our time to do all that we can for her, even when that means we have to reach outward for help. I take great pride in working for all that I have in my life. It is something that I have observed from my mom, but the financial burden that has been put upon her is far greater than my brother and I’s families can handle alone.

Background

My mom has worked many labor intensive jobs, and unfortunately was not able to fully retire. She was working part-time, but since June, she has not been able to go back to work. She is currently going through chemotherapy treatment and has completed 3 of the 8 rounds she will be receiving during this process.

She had exploratory surgery June 30th to find out how much and where all the cancer was located for biopsy and to give her a colostomy bag to help relieve her stomach pain. During surgery they found two tumors, the one on her abdomen (the one that was causing all the pain) and one in her uterus. She has a lot of cancer fluid all through her abdomen and around her lungs.

Judy’s treatment plan

My mom’s treatment plan is currently to receive four rounds of chemotherapy, a hysterectomy surgery with the removal of her tumors, then another four rounds of chemotherapy treatment that will take her into February of next year. All her treatments have been with the wonderful team at West Penn hospital. In August she was approved for a clinical trial. Since starting chemotherapy she has been feeling much better. It’s great to see her with energy and, of course, bright spirits. The months prior to chemotherapy were very tough on my mom’s health, so we are grateful to see that the treatment is working. We have seen her cancer numbers go down after the 2nd treatment. So it’s working! We know that there is a long road ahead, but will take all the wins as they come. Positivity is key. Her surgery should be scheduled for sometime in November.

How to help

I have several friends and family members asking how they can help. This has been a difficult year for so many. I’ve seen lots of businesses close, friends struggling with job loss, and the number of people posting about someone in their life with cancer has been at an all time high this year. It truly breaks my heart. Everyone has something that they are struggling with, so if you are able to send support of any kind know from the bottom of our hearts your generosity means the world to us. We know that no act of kindness is small. Like my mom I’ve seen so much goodwill in the community because at our core we all want to help each other. All donations will help cover out of pocket and medical expenses, helping my mom stay fueled properly with nutritious meals, and any other unexpected costs that can help her have stability.

I want to thank everyone for all the calls, texts, cards, meals that so many of you have sent. We have greatly appreciated everything. Having my mom see how much she is loved is the best gift.
