Jolea’s Family Urgently Needs Shelter, Food, and Water

I am Lisa Abid, a nurse and mother in Hopewell Junction NY. I am a believer in human rights and an activist. I had the honor to meet the family online and follow their journey in this devastating, trying time. Let’s offer them support so that they can survive and rebuild their lives.

Jolea and her brother Jihad lived together in Gaza City before the war. They had a spacious home, bedrooms with all their precious toys, and everything children could want. Their parents gave them everything. Their father had two businesses, including a real estate agency and a tourist agency. They were a family who donated and helped the needy people in their community. Since the war, things have changed radically.

Jolea and Jihad are forced to endure conditions that no child should live in. Their home was bombed, along with their dad's two businesses, and they have lost everything. Jolea suffers from pulmonary allergies, because of the continuous bombing and toxic, dusty air. The allergy constantly gets worse and they cannot provide the medication she needs.

The current situation is extremely dire, as the family has been displaced more than 10 times now. Each time they go through extreme stress and danger and require additional funds for transport and new places to live. With humanitarian areas consistently being changed and shrinking, living conditions continue to get worse and lack of sanitation and close living proximity, mean increased disease and health issues. There is nowhere left for people to go.

In addition to the fatigue of all the displacements, Jolea and Jihad had to face extremely difficult life in tents and lack of the simplest necessities of life. Today Jolea's family struggles to provide drinking water, food is difficult to find, and medication has become a "luxury".

Please help us reach our goal to support the survival of this family through this conflict and to eventually rebuild some semblance of happiness and security for Jolea and Jihad. Funds will provide basic necessities like food, clean drinking water, clothing, and items needed for cooking and living. After the conflict, we will continue to support them rebuilding shelter. Funds will be provided by bank transfer and PayPal, as available to the family.
