Help Julia make a peaceful + safe move

Hello! My name is Julia Rodriguez, I am a 26 year old working professional in need of some last minute help. Anyone who knows me knows that I often struggle to ask for help - not so much because of pride, but because I hate to bother people when I think it’s something I should handle on my own. Today I’ve decided to bite the bullet and ask people genuinely for a little bit of help.

At the end of January, I will be moving out of my current apartment. The details of my move are still up in the air as I haven’t been very lucky in my search for housing. Right now I live about 30-45 minutes away from both of my jobs and that trip back and forth alone has been a struggle due to my PTSD (was in a very bad car accident a few years ago). I’m trying to move closer to my jobs, and really to an area that’s become my second home and makes my life so much easier and more comfortable. The biggest issues I have right now are
1.) I do not have much money saved to move. I’ve been living paycheck to paycheck since September, after I had left the hospital and my hours were cut.

Even with a second job I am just barely able to make rent or other major bills. I recently got a raise at my main job, and so I know I won’t be struggling like this for too long, but in the mean time I can’t seem to catch up enough to make a difference. As I said earlier, I don’t have a designated place to move just yet, but most places will charge a $200 pet fee. I absolutely need to have my pet cat with me, as she has been with me the last 10 years and has helped me immensely with my mental health.
2.) My car has been in a bit of disarray since that time in September as well. I’ve been driving on a bum tire and it’s nothing but sheer luck that it hasn’t given out on me yet after going way wayyy past the amount of time you’re supposed to be on a spare. Because of that, my other tires are starting to get a bit wonky. It feels like an endless cycle - just this one tire throwing off the rest of my car. On top of that, my brakes are shot and it’s been wearing away at my nerves to not know if those are going to fail me at any moment as well. To fix my car alone, it would be around $600. The type of car I own (2016 Scion iA) is discontinued, and with that being said, there’s only one type of tire that fits my car (this sounds unbelievable but seriously - try googling it for yourself.) Repair estimates were quoted to me, $415 to fix my front brakes and rotors and $197 to get a new tire.

Why is it important for me to get my car back in tip top shape? Because I have been taking back roads for months and it’s been making me late to work, and it’s prevented me from going a lot of places I needed to go that require use of the highway. If I am going to move back to New Haven, I will need to be able to take the highway in order to move quickly and efficiently between cities. Not to mention, my cat has extreme travel anxiety - the quicker I can get her to our destination, the better. A trip through the backroads with a howling cat for 45 mins is incredibly unnerving and she already has enough issues as a senior cat as it is.

Any other money made from this campaign will go directly to other moving expenses - deposits, moving truck, boxes, bins, etc. I am trying to be as transparent as possible, as I know asking for money this way takes an immense amount of humility on my end and trust on everyone else’s end. I so desperately want to start my year off on a good note and this would help me greatly. My mental health has been steadily improving and my lifestyle is improving with it as well. I want to see myself succeed just asbadly as my loved ones do.  Being able to make a smoothtransition into a new home would be an absolute dream come true for me. I’ve been struggling with housing since about 2014 and I’ve moved over 6 times within that space. I am exhausted, and just trying my best to gain some control over a very important aspect to living.

Thank you so so much for reading, and if you’ve felt compelled at all to donate, I truly appreciate you and what you’ve done for me.  I may never be able to thank people properly for this but I hope to show my appreciation by taking good care of myself from this point on. Thank you, again.
