Help Julia Tra pay her concussion ER bill
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Julia Tra. I am 21 years old and a junior at Mercer University in Macon, Georgia. I am currently studying Business Management and have plans to go to Mercer's Nursing campus in Atlanta after my senior year to pursue my MSN.
I am not really sure where to start with my story, but hopefully my words reach someone. Back in December of 2020, my parents disowned me because of my current relationship with my boyfriend. At that time, I was supported financially by my mother, but I was living with my father. Both of my parents cut me off right before Christmas, and I have been temporarily living with my boyfriend and his family ever since. The living conditions back at home with either of my parents are very toxic and unsafe. I have been kicked out multiple times before by my mother for unreasonable occasions which left me homeless and living in my car or at a friend's house. Due to it being a sensitive topic, I will not go into detail about my experiences with my father, but I do not feel physically, emotionally, or mentally safe around him.
On May 22, 2021, I had fallen in one of the student parking lots and got a concussion. I was extremely exhausted, stressed, and overworked from school and from my jobs. I went to the Colliseum's Piedmont Macon Medical Center Emergency Room to get my head checked, and I ended up with two bills that I am still paying off. I have been reaching out to the hospital's support services to try and apply for the financial assistance program. However, today I was notified that my bill is not high enough for me to qualify for assistance. My emergency bill still has a remaining balance of $1,465 and my physician bill has a remaining balance of $776. I have already put my bills on hold 3 times already to give myself time to pay them off. My bills are on final notice (and overdue since 11/09/2021), and I am at risk for having my bills sent to debt collectors.
I am a full time student and a part time worker with three jobs. I have been working extremely hard to financially support myself and figure out ways to find stability in all aspects of my life. With next semester's bill coming up and current bills that I am paying on my own, I will not have enough to pay my hospital bills on time.
I do not expect to make it to my goal, and I am not expecting for either of my bills to be paid off through donations. I wasn't even sure if I wanted to post my story, but here I am. I am learning to be vulnerable and to ask for help when I may need it.
Anything will help me in this situation. I would love some positive and kind words during this heavy and dark time. If you cannot donate, please share my story! I know that I will always figure out a way through my challenges, and hopefully my story will reach out to someone who may be going through something similar. Thank you for taking the time to read my story and I appreciate all your efforts in supporting me.
