Help Julian Vigay Get Back On The Field!
Julian Vigay loves baseball; he lives and breathes it, from his days at Encinal High School in Alameda, to still playing competitively almost 20 years later, now in his first season in the Bay Area Men’s Senior Baseball League for the 35 Oaks. Julian was on his way to his opening game of the season, riding his motorcycle on the freeway, when he was struck from behind by a hit and run driver, knocking him from his bike to the pavement at high speed. Julian somehow struggled to his feet, only to be struck again by another car. Julian shouldn’t have survived that trauma, but his will to live, tenacity and strength, along with the incredible resolve of his friends, paramedics and a tireless and determined team of ER doctors and nurses, amazingly brought him back to life. Remarkably Julian, despite losing all feeling in his lower extremities, has progressed greatly in his recovery, been released from two hospitals, and is now going through rigorous rehabilitation. After two grueling weeks, encouragingly Julian is regaining feeling in his thighs, giving everyone tremendous hope. Despite his ordeal, Julian is filled with joy and gratitude, and knows he has lessons in hope and determination he wants to share with the world. He also has one wish he wants to fulfill- getting back on the field he loves, showing that with courage, and heart, anything is possible.
To that end, we want to do everything we can for Julian and his family, and encourage all players, friends and family to donate what they can afford to help defray some of the significant health care costs and burdens Julian is absorbing. Please feel free to forward to to those who may be able to help, and join us in supporting Julian’s courageous efforts to return to the game he loves.
