Help Julie - a devastating fire took everything.

Imagine being at work and looking out the window to see your home on fire.

Our beloved Julie, a long-time employee at Beer Engine, desperately ran into the snow on Friday, February 4th, when she saw her apartment building in flames. Worse, the smoke was coming from her actual apartment.

The fire took every single possession she had except what she wore to work that day. The rest she described as "incinerated."

Julie is a remarkable individual. She is the type of person who brings treats because buying them helps support other Lakewood small businesses. We often find her creating things for her colleagues - a 4-foot birthday card or personalized stockings for her friends and coworkers. She takes projects upon herself. If it needs to be handled or organized, Julie just does it automatically and without pause. Above-and-beyond doesn't even begin to describe Julie's commitment to her BE family and to her community.

During the days-long power outage last year, it was Julie who approached us to donate cooler space when she learned other restaurants were in jeopardy of losing inventory.

You may not know this, but if you are a community member or small business in Lakewood, Julie is your biggest supporter, advocate, and cheerleader.

And now, Julie needs our support. She needs absolutely everything. Just the thought of it is heartbreaking and overwhelming.

She has no clothing, not even a second pair of socks. She has no home. All things she collected over the years that brought her joy are gone. Her art, sewing machines, and even her beloved pairs of sneakers are all lost.
