Help Julie and the lads recover from her tragic Aneurysm

Donation protected
On Tuesday June 11th 2024, Melbourne’s swingingest singer Julie O'Hara suffered an aneurysm ( subarachnoid haemorrhage ) at her local gym whilst working out with her son Eldon, who was an absolute hero, calmly calling paramedics and directing gym staff who held Julie in position till the paramedics arrived.

Julie was rushed to hospital and underwent brain surgery, which was successful in stopping the bleeding. A CT scan discovered there were actually two aneurysms, but the second one appears benign for now; the treatment protocols are still being investigated.

Julie is currently in hospital, where she’ll for up at least three weeks under close observation. Miraculously she is currently suffering no paralysis, and is able to speak, but pain levels are extremely high and her condition is still stabilising. The statistics around this type of aneurysm are sobering, and so it’s clear that our beautiful Jules is clearly the 8th wonder of the world in surviving this traumatic brain injury with most of her faculties intact.

Julie is the most loving and devoted Mum to her two boys Eldon and Gibson, life partner to Peter, and has so very much to live for, but as you can imagine this event has been the most intensely harrowing week ever for her family, and her recovery and is only just beginning. Julie is not out of the woods yet and far from it. We will know more in about two weeks and until then she will be in hospital nursing intense head pain and undergoing tests. The most simple tasks lead Jules to feeling utterly exhausted, and it's likely that will continue for some time.

The Rehabilitation process is going to be long and arduous, and the rehab process takes around a year. It’s presently unclear what the outcome of this event will be, but Julie won’t be able to work or perform for many months, most likely for the rest of the year at an absolute minimum.

Presently, it’s unclear what Julie’s recovery will look like. We know she is the strongest and most positive person many of us have ever met, but right now Julie and her beautiful family need your support! It’s not only for the mounting costs in this critical period where she is hospitalised, but also for the coming months as the family must negotiate their day to day costs while Julie is recovering and unable to work.

Your donations will assist Julie and her family to cover bills and household expenses during her recovery, as well as helping with costs during this critical period. These costs are mounting and are ongoing, so any amount you can spare will be a huge help to this beautiful mob. If you’re able to share this amongst your networks that would also be sincerely appreciated.

Let’s all send Julie and the crew our donations, and also our positive energy – there’s no songbird like Julie O’Hara and we want to do everything we can to get this incredible musician back up on that stage where she belongs, back teaching and inspiring younger generations, and most of all, back home and thriving, watching her beautiful boys grow up to be fine young men.
