Help Justin fight CIDP
Donation protected
In mid-2024, my brother Justin developed a complex and aggressive neurodegenerative condition called Chronic Inflammatory Demyelinating Polyneuropathy (CIDP).
CIDP is a rare autoimmune disorder where the body's immune system attacks the nerve cells around the brain and spinal cord. With symptoms similar to the acute and rapid onset of Guillain-Barré syndrome, Multiple Sclerosis or Motor Neuron Diseases, Justin is losing control of his mental and physical body.
He lives in constant pain, extreme fatigue and is losing feeling in his arms and legs. He experiences daily tremors and spasms. His strength is deteriorating to the point where he can no longer walk unassisted. His cognitive and motor skills have also been severely impacted, reducing his capacity to carry out simple daily activities.
Having undergone extensive tests, scans and after exploring multiple diagnoses, Justin's medical team sought the views of neurological specialists in the United States and Switzerland to reach a diagnosis of CIDP. Unfortunately, his symptoms will continue to rapidly and irreversibly worsen, leading to permanent physical and mental disability.
Immediate and early treatment will give Justin his best chance at fighting CIDP and reducing the long term impacts it will have on his life. His medical team has confirmed that there are no treatments available in Australia that address the underlying causes of CIDP. This means he cannot access treatment that will help to reduce or reverse the degenerative impacts it is having on his body and life.
His only option is to seek treatment overseas, in Germany, Switzerland or Mexico. The cost of this treatment pathway is beyond what Justin can afford on his own and we are desperately seeking your help.
Your donation will give our family's much-loved brother, son and uncle a chance to fight. Any donation you can make, large or small, will provide immeasurable hope that he may one day reclaim his life.
