Help K9-SAR Save Lost Dogs’ Lives with a Thermal Drone!

Donation protected
Every day, dogs go missing in the Peak District, Pennines and surrounding areas, often in vast, remote landscapes where time is critical. K9-SAR, a specialist search and rescue team ran by volunteers, is dedicated to locating these lost pets and reuniting them with their families.

K9-SAR currently operate two thermal drones, but we face a growing challenge: our drones are significantly stretched. More often than not, when a new search request comes in, our existing drones are already deployed on other rescue operations, meaning families are left waiting when every second counts. On top of that, the closest available drone may need to be driven over 2 hours to reach the search zone, losing valuable time that could be the difference between life and death for a lost pet.

Why We Need Another Specialist Thermal Drone:

With missing dog cases increasing, we urgently need to expand our capabilities. A new specialist drone will allow us to:

✅ Find missing pets faster – Thermal imaging can detect heat signatures across forests, moorlands, and valleys, even in total darkness.
✅ Respond immediately – No more long delays due to travel time or waiting for an available drone.
✅ Support more families – Our current drones are at full capacity, and demand for K9-SAR’s services is growing rapidly.
✅ Ensure safer rescues – The drone provides aerial overwatch, helping coordinate rescues and reducing risks for both pets and our ground search teams.

K9-SAR Relies Solely on Donations:

Unlike official emergency services, K9-SAR is entirely funded by donations. Every mission we undertake, every dog we save and every piece of equipment we use is made possible by the generosity of people like you. Without additional funding, we cannot expand our operations to meet the increasing demand.

You Never Know When Your Dog Might Go Missing:

No one ever expects their beloved pet to go missing - but it happens in an instant. A sudden noise, a broken lead, or an open gate, and they’re gone. If that day ever comes, wouldn’t it be reassuring to know that a specialised search and rescue team with the right equipment is nearby and ready to help?

The Growing Need:

• Over 1,500 dogs go missing every year in the UK’s rural areas.
• In cold or wet conditions, survival rates drop drastically after the first 48 hours.
• Thermal imaging has a proven track record of locating lost pets quickly - sometimes within hours rather than days.

With your support, we can expand K9-SAR’s reach, reduce response times, and ensure more missing pets are found quickly and safely.
