Help Kade and Kids After Tragic Loss

First, let me introduce myself. My name is Alejandra Salazar and I am daughter of Dassy and Jim (stepdaughter), making me stepsister to Katelynn Sorell. I am the oldest of their children and I will be in charge of this GoFundMe for Kade Sorell (husband of Kate) and their children.

On Saturday, December 28th, 2024 at 245am at Fry Rd and i10, a drunk driver failed to yield the right of way to Katelynn and Kade Sorell crashing into them. Both Katelynn and Kade were thrown from their bike. Katelynn was pronounced dead on the scene and Kade was rushed to the hospital in critical condition.

Kade is currently (Sunday 12/29 @ 1030p) waiting to undergo his first surgery on Monday to begin repair of his broken pelvis. At this time what is known is that he also has internal bleeding, a broken arm and a broken leg (not currently known which). Surgery on Monday will give a better picture of the extent of his injuries and what his prognosis may be.

Katelynn leaves behind her son, Jameson Malley “Rooster” (4) and Austyn Renee “Squishy” (2). They were not with them at the time of the accident. They were with their grandparents, Dassy and Jim. They will remain safely with them and their other grandmother, Barbara, Kade’s mother.

There are a lot of unknowns at the moment.

On top of several surgeries Kade will need, he is expected to need months of physical therapy. This means he will not be bringing in any income for the foreseeable future.

There will be a celebration of life for Katie. As of right now, the date of that is unknown as we are waiting for Kade to make enough recovery to also be able to attend.

As far as I know, both Jim and Kade have agreed that Katie will be cremated. It’s what she would have wanted.

I am and will continue to be in constant contact with my mom and Jim and will update this page as I receive updates.
