Rallying for Kaden: A Fund For Recovery
Donation protected
As many of you already know, Kaden was admitted to the ICU on October 6th following a devastating car accident. For those who may not have heard, his injuries were life-threatening and required immediate emergency brain surgery to address swelling and bleeding in his brain. They had to remove a bone flap while the swelling went down and his brain healed. In addition, Kaden suffered multiple fractures to his hip, lower back, and neck, along with a severe laceration to his neck and chin.
He was sedated for about four weeks to allow his body time to heal. In early November, Kaden underwent two surgeries: one to replace the bone flap and a full hip replacement. He has been working tirelessly in rehab ever since, determined to regain his strength and mobility.
After being released from inpatient rehab, Kaden continued his recovery with follow-up appointments and outpatient rehab sessions. On December 30th, during a routine neurology visit, he mentioned a sore on the side of his head that wasn’t healing. Further examination revealed exposed skull bone and a screw that was used when the bone flap was replaced, prompting his immediate readmission to the hospital.
Doctors determined that the bone removed during his initial brain surgery in October needed to be replaced with an artificial bone due to infection. On December 31st, Kaden underwent surgery to remove the infected bone flap. Unfortunately, complications arose after the procedure was completed, when he experienced a brain bleed that caused a hemoglobin stroke.
The medical team acted swiftly, performing another emergency surgery to stop the bleeding. Thankfully, Kaden is now awake, alert, and continuing to fight through his recovery. However, his journey is far from over. He will need another surgery in 6 to 8 weeks to place the artificial bone, an extended hospital stay, and another round of inpatient rehab before he can return home.
This series of unexpected events has placed an enormous emotional and financial strain on our family. Between mounting medical bills, physical therapy, ongoing treatments, and other unforeseen expenses, we are reaching out for help to ensure Kaden receives the care he needs.
A heartfelt thank you to all of you for your continued support. Every donation, prayer, and message of encouragement means the world to us. We truly appreciate you being part of Kaden's recovery journey.
