Help Kai Out of Toxic Living Environment
Donation protected
Hi everyone,
My name is Kai Myers and I’m a 23-year-old trans man from Northern California. After struggling to get by through most of this pandemic, I am here to share my story and ask for help. It is difficult for me to talk about this or ask for help, but I’ve gotten to the point where is it completely necessary.
I grew up in a verbally and physically abusive household and after years of not living with my parents anymore, I was forced into a situation where I had to move in with them again. Living with them for the past 10 months has been extremely tolling on my mental and physical well-being. Since living here I have been exposed to constant stress that has left me horribly depressed and anxious. Not only do my parents not respect my identity, a few months ago my older brother moved back into the family house as well. Since he has moved in, he has physically and emotionally abused me in similar ways he did when I was young.
Throughout the pandemic, I have worked different jobs but have faced horrible discrimination because of my race and gender identity. At one of my last jobs, I was verbally hate-crimed for being Asian-American. After experiencing intolerable working environments, I was able to go on unemployment but that has now run out. I’ve tried to find a job but have been living off Door Dashing (which I do practically every single day) to try and pay my bills on time. Though I have been working as much as I can, I am unable to save any money to move out of the toxic living situation I am stuck in. Along with this, I often don’t have money to feed myself and am extremely depressed, my physical health is declining with my mental health.
Recently, I have had a few unexpected expenses that have made my goal of moving out even more impossible. First, I got a $500 red light ticket that I must pay by the end of the month. Then, my cat Luna came home with a disfiguring injury to her third eyelid and had to have emergency surgery where she almost lost her eye. Thankfully her eyeball was not removed, but the surgery ended up being very expensive and I am already struggling to get by as it is. I am in desperate need of funds so that I can relocate out of this abusive household and pay off vet bill debt.
Any amount of help would be much appreciated!! Thank you so much for reading and sharing.
