Help Kailu get to Nationals before November 15!

Hello everyone, my name is Carissa Welsh of Garbutt, and I am seeking assistance with my son’s recent selection in the Queensland Athletics Team to compete at the Nationals being held in Brisbane on the 15th to 21st of November 2022. My son Kailu Johnson Jnr is 11yrs old and is in his final year at Garbutt State School.

This is Kailu’s first time competing in athletics and is not associated with any club nor coached other than by his older brother and I. Kailu had been training and is continuing to train six days per week prior to the state championships and now as he prepares for the Nationals next month.

In his recent competition at the state titles, he placed second in the 100 meters sprint event and won Silver, and then went on to win the 200 meters sprint event where he won Gold. This is overwhelming and such an awesome opportunity for Kailu to be selected to represent Queensland in his first ever competition. Unfortunately the time frame for Kailu to compete at the Nationals has placed great financial strain on my family and we need to raise $3000 desperately if my son is pursue his dreams of competing in Athletics. We are writing to seek any financial assistance to support our Kailu to compete at the Nationals in his first ever year of competition and hopefully one day become the next generation to represent Australia in Athletics.
