Help Kait Burton with legal fees

Hello!
As you may know, a wonderful member of our community, Kait Burton, has been navigating an ongoing and increasingly challenging family, divorce, and custody situation for some time.
If you don’t know Kait, you’ve been missing out. First and foremost, Kait is a wonderful mother and friend. She is a hard worker, a wonderful Birth Doula and Educator. She is witty and wild and will put a smile on your face in a matter of seconds. Most of all, she shows up….. for anyone who needs it. Always.
It’s time we show up for her.
Kait has done well to keep her situation private and off social media in hopes to protect her and her children from the hardships that come with a lack of privacy in sensitive situations such as divorce, custody, and the often difficult circumstances it can bring to light.
As a single, working parent, not receiving court ordered child support, simply keeping the rent paid and the lights on is challenging.
Over the last 2 years, Kait has been responsible for 100% of the legal fees related to her divorce, custody and protection proceedings.
Unfortunately, as her circumstances have become increasingly complicated, the continued legal fees have made it impossible to move forward with any further legal proceedings related to divorce, custody, or protection since December 2023.
In order to continue to keep this family unit safe and allow legal proceedings to move forward in the best interests of these 4 children and their mother, a guardian ad litem (GAL) has been appointed. The judge has ordered both parents to split the expense of $3000 +
Kait is recognizing that she will have to also pay the full amount for the GAL to move forward with proceedings.
It has now become absolutely necessary to crowdsource for the legal fees needed to move forward with proceedings that have been on hold in hopes her co-parent would equally participate & follow through with court ordered requests for screenings and support. As of June 2024, they have not.
There is a deadline approaching in August to have the fee paid fully.
The GAL will work to present unbiased recommendations to the judge, advocating for what they believe is in the children’s best interests. This may involve making recommendations regarding custody arrangements, visitation schedules, and other important decisions.
Having the opportunity for these four boys to have appropriate legal representation in this matter is imperative.
As the situation continues to deteriorate and become increasingly public, it’s never been more important to seek help openly.
Helping this mother achieve her goals in being legally released from this marriage to someone unsafe and unable to parent or care for them or himself at this time is now necessary and the safest option for everyone.
Thank you for your time & consideration
