Help Us Survive 2025 & Get Chemical-Free Food to People

The Fight for Chemical-Free Food Just Got Harder—But We’re Not Giving Up.
Dear Friends,
Once again, we never imagined we'd be in this position. First, we lost our entire flock of 3,000 hens to avian flu, wiping out a primary source of revenue. Now, with federal funding freezes, the programs we depended on for additional income have been suspended.
We’ve already hit our original GoFundMe goal, and your generosity has been overwhelming—truly bringing us to tears. Your words and support have made it overwhelmingly clear that Kakadoodle is more than just a local food delivery service, it's a movement towards a healthier, more resilient food system.
Your generosity has helped cover losses from avian flu, kept our marketplace running, and ensured we can rebuild. But with this new challenge, the reality is that we need additional funding to make it through 2025 without taking on significant debt.
Our Story
We started with a dream of using technology to help get local food to our community. After Marty survived non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma—a battle that strengthened our resolve to avoid the harmful chemicals—we dedicated our lives to farming differently.
Since our start in 2020, Kakadoodle has grown into a thriving online farmers’ market, delivering pasture-raised eggs, grass-finished beef, fresh greens, and more. All chemical free, and delivered year-round to our community’s door steps.
Where we’re at now
We were working with two government programs (LFPA and RFSI) that were expected to provide much-needed revenue—especially after the bird flu. Without that funding, we now need to raise or borrow money get us through 2025.
But here’s the good news:
If we can make it through this year, Kakadoodle’s marketplace will be profitable on its own—without government assistance!
Which is incredibly exciting—it’s a new approach to delivering local food to people. Well, actually, it’s not entirely new at all. It’s a return to how things used to be: thousands of small farms feeding their communities by working in harmony with nature, without depending on chemicals.
Every dollar you donate isn’t just helping our farm survive this year—it’s helping prove that we don’t need industrial consolidation to feed people. It’s helping build a future where small farms thrive, where healthy food is grown without chemicals, and where empty egg shelves is far less likely.
How you can help (again).
Your continued donations will allow us to:
✅ Keep Kakadoodle’s online marketplace running—ensuring people can still access fresh, chemical-free food from local farmers.
✅ Survive 2025 funding freezes without taking on massive debt, so we can prove that this model works—and that a better food system is possible.
Additional funds will go towards:
✅ Rebuilding our flock when the quarantine is lifted in June—that is, if chickens are even available to purchase!
✅ Fund critical infrastructure improvements—like building a high tunnel chicken coop to protect our flock and prevent future outbreaks.
So What’s Next?
In the immediate future, we’re focused on getting through 2025 without accumulating a significant amount of debt. And then, rebuilding stronger than ever before.
After the 120-day quarantine is lifted, we’ll move our new flock into a high tunnel chicken coop—designed to better protect the hens and keep their feed safe from wild birds. This critical upgrade will cost around $60,000 and house 3,000 hens, ensuring their health and productivity for the long term.
At the same time, we’ll continue expanding our marketplace, strengthening our local food network, and supporting more small farmers—all while marching toward long-term profitability.
Thank You
We know times are tough for everyone, and we don’t take your support lightly. Whether you donate, share, or just send words of encouragement—you are part of this journey.
As our pastor reminded us last week, we can either ask, “Why me?” or “What’s next?” We’re choosing to focus on what’s next. And with your help, we will make it happen.
With gratitude,
Marty & MariKate
