Help Karen Dorner's Dream of Retirement

My Name is Niki Hanson, and I’m raising funds for my dear friend Karen Dorner. Karen is the epitome of “they don’t make ‘Em like they used to.” She’s the hardest working person I know, and also one of the kindest souls I’ve ever met. I’ve heard people describe her as “salt of the earth,” and “has a heart of gold.”
Karen has 40+ years in the pet care and shelter industry, and is still the first one to pick up the mop or work off the clock just to help those around her. As her recent manager, I’ve seen her decline a decent tip that was meant solely for her. Even though the money is needed, she wanted everyone else to have a part of it.
Karen has lived in Brooklyn her whole life, and has spent many years doing cat TNR to help her neighborhood and the cats struggling to survive around her. She took six of them in, and they all sit next to her on the couch every night, each in their own spot. And if they took up the whole couch, you better bet you’d find Karen sitting on the floor so they can have the comfiest space.
But Karen’s tired. She’s just a few years from retirement, but in my opinion, it’s time for her to have some well deserved rest. Her money goes to her family and bills, and she needs a little help right now. Not to mention, she’s had a pain in her mouth for too many years and could use some help with that as well. Karen has selflessly given a lot to her community, and it’s only right that those who care for their community members help her back. I often dream of winning the lottery and giving her enough to live easily for the rest of her life, in her dream treehouse home.
