Karen Haslam’s liver transplant recovery
Donation protected
I am writing this on behalf of my friend Kelly Mileski (Karen’s daughter). Karen had planned meniscus repair surgery on 12/29. Five days later, she experienced unexpected and serious complications related to a bowel obstruction and was taken urgently to the operating room. During surgery, her bowel was repaired but inadvertently, several major vessels to her liver were cut, cutting off circulation to the major organ. Karen was put on an emergent liver transplant list and was transferred to UCSF in critical condition. On 1/6 a compatible liver was found and Karen had a successful liver transplant surgery. Many stars aligned to get Karen to this point but by no means is she out of the woods. Kelly and her husband Mike will be with Karen in San Francisco, away from their two little boys and off work for likely an extended period of time. This fundraiser is organized to support their housing costs, medical bills and any other expenses during this extremely difficult and uncertain time for their mom. If you know Karen, you know she is a fighter! Please help ease the financial burden and get Karen home to her Tahoe family.
