Help Karen Overcome Her Medical Crisis
Donation protected
Karen was admitted to the hospital on Friday (6.21) for back and side pain that has been happening for a few weeks now. They did some blood tests and her white blood cell count was crazy high and they told us they had to transfer her to a different hospital by ambulance to a hospital that is able to keep her for the weekend. After lots of testing and waiting, they determined that she had a severe kidney infection that caused sepsis. They also found a blockage where her ureter and kidney meet that was causing her kidney not to be able to drain, keeping the infection in. The doctors told her that if she would have waited just two more days, she would have died from the sepsis in her blood.
They went in to try to figure out what the problem was and place a stent in her ureter to get the infection out but they were not able to do anything because of the blockage in her kidney so they had to do a Nephrostomy and in a few weeks when all the infection is gone, she will have a surgery to cut her ureter tube where the blockage is and reattach it, as well as removed the Nephrostomy.
All that being said, she was in the hospital for a total of 7 days, an ambulance transfer, lots of medications and antibiotic treatments, blood tests and CAT scans, and 3 total surgeries plus a Home Health-Care nurse that has to come in and help her with her Nephrostomy tube. Her medical bill is going to be very expensive and she needs all the help she can get. She does have insurance but it is a very high deductible and Co-pays. Anything helps but do not feel forced to donate! Just keep her in your prayers for a fast and easy recovery.
