The beautiful soul we all know as Kari Gilchrist , formally Kari Hyde, AKA Kari Cat has been through more than most anyone will endure in their lifetime.
She is a such a very strong person with the kindest heart.
We all know her and love her dearly.
She has down so much for our community and it is our turn to give back to her.
Kari first found out she had stage 2 breast cancer in 2014. She did 6 months of Chemo and had a double mastectomy and she beat it!
During this time, she had the greatest attitude and even helped others in the community. You would have never known she was sick.
She threw an event called “Funk Cancer” in 2014, 2015, and 2016.
2014 and 2015 she raised about $10,000 for the National Breast Cancer Foundation, and in 2016 she raised about $5000 for Florida Cancer Specialist Foundation.
That’s about $15000 she raised!!!!
She was able to get donations from all types of businesses to help with this fundraiser.
In the midst of the hardest days of her life, all she could think to do was to help others.
After almost 5 years in remission, In August of 2018, Kari found out that her cancer had come back as metastatic breast cancer that had spread to her skin, brain, lungs, bones, and her ovaries.
She then completed 4 more months of chemo, and had radiation to the lungs and her brain.
As always, she kept an amazing attitude and stayed stronger than anyone I personally know.
On December 6, 2019, someone hit Kari while she was at a dead stop, and totaled her car. Insurance covered some of it but there was no money left over to help her towards another car.
On the 31 of December, 2019, Kari found out she has new spots on her brain, and also a new spot on her eye was found.
KARI HAS NEVER ONCE ASKED ANYONE FOR AND HELP OR ANYTHING!!!!!
There are medications she can take to help with these new spots, but unfortunately even with insurance the cost is absolutely absurd and will be extremely difficult for her to afford. And the new medication she has to take is FOR THE REST OF HER LIFE!!!!!
I AM ASKING FOR HELP FOR MY BEST FRIEND.
SHE HAS NEVER ONCE ASKED ANYONE FOR ANY HELP ! AND I BELIEVE WE SHOULD GIVE BACK, ESP TO SOMEONE THAT HAS HELPED OUR COMMUNITY IMMENSELY!!!!!
