Help Karin fight cancer

Hello - my name is Peg Owens and I am fundraising on behalf of my niece, Karin Fuller. Karin is a young, beautiful girl in the prime of her life. A few days ago, her entire world was turned upside down when she was diagnosed with Stage 4 lung cancer at just 38 years old.

Karin has a good job, a loving family, and she just bought her first home about a year ago. She had hopes and dreams of meeting the right guy and having children of her own. Now those dreams have been completely shattered. Not only did she get a totally unexpected Stage 4 cancer diagnosis, she was also told that it was untreatable and her life expectancy would be 3 years. Instead of treating the cancer aggressively, the current plan is that she will receive palliative care only.

According to her doctors, it’s extremely rare for someone so young to have this diagnosis. Lung cancer is normally diagnosed at age 65 or older. It goes without saying that Karin is desperate for a second opinion - but her insurance won’t cover it.

Even though she has full time employment and has health care insurance, she is already finding out that her coverage is fairly limited in regard to the cancer treatment. She had to wait days for insurance approval just to get appropriate diagnostic testing. She was made to wait again to get approval for medication to manage her excruciating pain. Then she discovered that her health insurance won’t pay for the second opinion that she desperately wants. The cost of the second opinion consult is $2,750, which she can’t afford. Treatment costs would be an additional expense.

Karin lives alone, is unable to work, and is already worried about being able to pay her mortgage and other bills. Time is of the essence, and Karin is in need of financial support. If you would like to help Karin with her cancer treatment, any amount you could give would be greatly appreciated.
