Help Karin and her Family

My name is Ryan, and my mom, Karin has been in the hospital for the past six weeks fighting a number of very serious illnesses. Any donations would be helpful to her and her family to help ease the burden during this difficult time.

In May, Karin suffered a heart attack related to congestive heart failure. After a series of tests and evaluations it was determined the best course of action to implant a Left Ventricular Assist Device (which would potentially extend Karin’s life despite her failing heart.) While the procedure was successful, complications arose including a stroke and sepsis from such a major surgery.

Karin has been a patient in the CICU (cardiovascular intensive care unit) at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester, NY since June. Due to the stroke, she has been in a coma-like state and requires round-the-clock medical care; including dialysis from kidney-failure, a feeding tube, ventilator, and a team of doctors and nurses to best assess the next course of treatment and care for Karin.

Her immediate family, including her parents, sister, niece, and son have been doing their best driving back and forth from Rochester to stay at her bedside.

Caring for a critically-ill loved one is a mentally, physically, and emotionally draining situation - it is also a major financial burden. Any donation, no matter how small, would greatly help her immediate family during this time.
