Help Karina- Victim of Drunk Driver Hit and Run
Donation protected
Hello everyone. I am raising money for my family member, Karina Reynosa, to help pay for her medical bills that insurance will not cover.
Karina was a victim of a double hit and run from a drunk driver in Vancouver, WA. on 06/03/2020. Karina was out for a jog and was crossing in the crosswalk when a drunk driver, driving in the oncoming traffic lane, hit her head on going a high rate of speed. She flew over a 150' from where she was hit to where she landed on the pavement. The driver was fleeing from a previous hit and run a few minutes prior when she hit Karina, her second victim. The driver did not slow down or stop at either accident. The first victim suffered a broken arm and is home recovering with family. Our Karina was not so lucky.
Karina is currently on life support in the ICU, but we believe with prayer and time she will recover! We are trying to remain positive during this incredibly hard time.
She has currently undergone 7 surgeries and has many more to go. She has broken bones from head to toe. Her pelvis is shattered. Her right femur, ribs 5,6, and 7, left arm and wrist, nose, back of her skull and cheek bones are all broken. Her left lung is also collapsed and she has a traumatic brain injury. Her list of injuries is almost a full page long.
Karina is a beautiful young woman that just turned 25 a couple weeks ago. Her medical insurance runs out when she turns 26 next year. We currently don't know what insurance will and will not cover. Her care will be ongoing.
She worked full-time until she was laid off due to covid19 and she is also a student at Clark College. Karina is a very active person and likes to run, kayak, go hiking, camping, and play with her dog, Milo. We believe being young and active will definitely help with her long road to recovery.
