Help Karina Win her Battle Against Cancer

Hi,

My name is Romy, and I am Karina's little sister. On March 2nd my sister was diagnosed with Esophageal Cancer. If you know me well, you know that I have since then taken the time to research every possible outcome. But instead of sharing scary statistics about this awful disease, let me share with you about my sister. She is the oldest of three, the first child, the first grandchild, the first niece. As you can already imagine being the oldest, she grew up and matured quickly. For as long as I can remember, my sister has always looked out for me. You see, my sister is almost seven years older than me, so once she was old enough and mom and dad were at work, she was the one who took care of us, and the best part is, she was happy to. Before I ever started school, she would come home after school and teach me the alphabet and how to read. She would also teach me the numbers and how to add and subtract, all from her little chalkboard that she was given as a gift.

Karina has always been the type of person who is all about giving and caring for others.

Unfortunately, life has not been easy for her. She is a mom to two beautiful human beings who very much depend on her to be healthy and strong.

She will soon need to undergo surgery where her entire esophagus will be removed, which will require a two weeks hospital stay if all goes well. She will need to learn how to take care of her body in new ways she never imagined, including how to eat again. She will also undergo treatments to ensure the cancer is gone for good.

Karina's battle with cancer has only just begun, and we have a long fight ahead of us. As you all know, medical bills can stack up fairly quickly, so she needs all the help she can get.
