A Childhood Marked by Hardship

Karolina’s life began in Romania, where she faced tremendous hardship from an early age. Abandoned by her mother, she lost her father at a very young age and was placed in the foster care system. The care she received there was far from nurturing; she endured harsh treatment and neglect, experiences that no child should ever have to face. Despite this, she developed an unyielding spirit and a determination to survive.

Seeking a Better Life

At 18, with nothing but hope and courage, Karolina emigrated to Ireland, seeking a fresh start and a better life. The transition was anything but easy. She struggled to find her place in a new country, changing jobs frequently and often living alone. Loneliness and uncertainty were her constant companions. Yet, her resolve never wavered. She worked tirelessly, eventually securing a stable job that allowed her to bring her sister and brother to Ireland. Reuniting with her siblings was a dream come true, providing her with a semblance of family after the tragic loss of her other brother five years ago.

A Heart Full of Love

When I met Karolina, I was immediately drawn to her warmth and selflessness. Despite her difficult past, she always had a smile on her face and a kind word for everyone. Her greatest joy came from helping others, never asking for anything in return. All she wanted was to be loved and to build a family of her own.

Together, we started a new chapter, filled with love and hope. Our dream was realized with the birth of our beautiful daughter, Aviana. But just one week after Aviana’s birth, our world was turned upside down. Karolina was diagnosed with bowel cancer.

The Battle Against Cancer

The diagnosis was devastating. Karolina underwent surgery to remove the cancer, demonstrating once again her incredible strength. However, the relief was short-lived. We soon learned that the cancer had spread to her liver, requiring more aggressive and costly treatments.

The Fight for Life and Love

As we navigate this terrifying journey, Karolina’s mental state has been fragile. She worries endlessly about Aviana and the future we once envisioned. The treatments are grueling, both physically and emotionally. Chemotherapy, targeted therapy, and potentially more surgeries are necessary to give her a fighting chance. These treatments are not only intense but also incredibly expensive.
