Help Karrysa and Her Boys During this Difficult Time

Donation protected
Karrysa and the boys moved to Tennessee late last year, started a new job, and the boys got established in their new schools. Within weeks of arriving, their house was hit by a tornado. While recovering from that tragedy, Karrysa was diagnosed with breast cancer. Karrysa was advised to take a leave of absence from her job at the hospital due to the aggressive treatment and risk of infection.

She had her first chemo treatment on April 3rd and became very sick afterwards. She was scheduled for round 2 on April 24th but her pre-lab work came back with elevated liver enzymes (indicating liver damage). They postponed her chemo treatment a week.

She completed her 2nd treatment on May 1st. She was sick again, but this time she wasn’t getting better and continued to get worse. Her liver was showing more signs or damage, electrolytes were very low, she hadn't been able to eat or keep any food down. The oncologist decided she needed to be hospitalized.

After being discharged, the difficult decision was made to uproot their lives in Tennessee and move back to Pennsylvania to be closer to family and friends. They got here safely mid-June and Karrysa was able to establish care with St. Luke's University Health Network to continue her treatment. She had her first chemo treatment in Pennsylvania on June 20th. Unfortunately, the chemo treatment that was scheduled for July 11th had to be postponed due to increased liver enzymes. Karrysa is now scheduled early August for her next treatment, provided her lab work allows.

Karrysa and the boys are currently living in a travel trailer outside her friends house. They have their basic necessities but this is not a long term solution, especially with the changing seasons and upcoming school year. It has been very difficult, but they continue making the best of every bad situation. Peyton is 14 years old and will be starting high-school this year, Paxton is 6 years old (non-verbal, autistic) and has many therapy appointments each week, and Pierson is 2 years old (a ball of energy, bouncing off the walls).

The goal of this GoFundMe has shifted. Karrysa and the boys have made it to Pennsylvania, but now they need somewhere to call home. The money from this GoFundMe will be used to secure housing and hopefully pay a few months forward.

Anything you can do to help would make a huge impact on this family, whether it’s financial support, rental leads, or sharing this to help spread the word.

We are ALL eternally grateful for your support.
