Help Kassie Battle

Hi there! My name is Amie Jo! I found out this past week that one of my roller derby coaches and mentors is battling cancer. To my surprise her response was to not center on her. I asked more about what she’s battling, and she shared with me, “I have Malignant Melanoma, started as skin cancer, and now spread to my lymph nodes. I had 2 surgeries already and have 12 months of treatment left. I go to Seattle to Fred Hutch 1-2x a week. In 6 months, my medical bills in total are over 50k$ but insurance has covered some, I just looked it’s 11k$ that is my portion, after getting financial assistance and insurance.”

If you know me then you know that I believe in helping relieve the burdens of those in need and especially for those who are quietly struggling.

Kassie plays many roles as a stepmom- coworker- friend- and mentor. If any of us can help spread help for her I know it’s our derby community.
