Hello!
In 2015, I participated in an exchange with a school in Ahmedabad - India. I remember our group teaching at a street school. We had prepared a dozen of French drawn “life blogs” from our school back in France, which were to be exchanged with Gujarati “life blogs” from this street school. On these “life blogs” we wanted for them to draw who they dreamed to be when they grew up. Each child was determined to impress their French equals, their concentration drawn towards their paper as pencils translated their dreams into lines and color. But the pencils they drew with were french, and the paper they created dreams on was from another country, and we could only stay and teach for a few brief hours before we had to go back to France.
How vain it seemed to try to make a change on such brief and unstable aid.
Later, it became clear to me that perhaps my experience teaching at this street school wasn’t going to help those children reach their dreams so much as it was going to help mine be granted.
In 2016, I created Kassiopé with 3 friends, and that summer we went back to Ahmedabad with our own project.
We successfully carried out 400 eye tests throughout different schools of Ahmedabad’s slum area, subsequently distributing the corresponding glasses. And to ensure this dream’s sustainability we brought together all the required infrastructure for the community to run its own eye tests.
Kassiopé is a non-profit organization. Its goal it is to fight illiteracy and all forms of marginalisation associated to health issues. It is focused first and foremost on eyes, as visual deficiency makes every daily task burdensome, impeding people from rising socioeconomically or from living up to any other hopes and dreams. For more details about Kassiopé please visit our website:

Today, we intend to continue and deepen this project by:
-Expanding our eye tests outside of schools to the elderly
-Performing cataract surgeries with the help of the Lotus Eye Clinic
-Teaching a local doctor how to perform screenings for cataracts
But, in order for this dream to continue we need your help and support! Help us reach our goal of 2500€.
The money collected through your funds will help:
-Purchase new glasses for the community
-Pay for the screening for cataracts
-Pay for gathering the required infrastructure needed for cataract surgery
Help us reach our goal by the 20th of January!
Maybe we won’t change the world, but trying is a beautiful way to live.
A heartfelt thank you,
The Kassiopé team
