Help Kat Stokley ~ Our Carolina Beach Local
Donation protected
CB Locals, one of our own is in need of some assistance. Everybody knows Kat, everybody loves Kat! Everyone who knows Kat, then you know... she has always been the first one to help everyone over the years. Rather it was with fundraising, volunteering, helping to rescue or foster a furbaby. If you asked Kat, for a dollar... she'd find a way to give you $20.00! The Lord loves a cheerful giver, and she has always helped out any way she can. Now, it's our turn to give back and help her! We all need to pull together and help our local CB sister out! Although she is now residing at a skilled living facility, she will only be there a few months and in the meantime, she needs to make sure her home she rents, utilities, car insurance, and other necessary financial obligations are met. Where she is now is just a steppingstone, she needs to feel secure in knowing she has her home to return to when released. This is why we are asking for your help.
Please share, donate, pray, and lift Kat's spirits by showing you love her. Every little bit helps, and we feel the key to a faster, greater, and stronger recovery comes with her feeling at ease financially and also feeling the love and support from her beloved friends and family... Knowing that her rent and other outside expenses are covered, along with her sidekick Marley Girl, this is the key to a swift and secured recovery. The Lord loves a cheerful giver! Over the years, Kat has been a fabric of all our lives, let's show her our appreciation!
Below is her story, the day her life turned upside down...
I went to unlock the door to the Florida room but unfortunately on my way there I slipped on the ceramic tile in the little Florida room and my Angel friend, Kay has told me since that, when she arrived, I was unconscious on the Florida room floor and my head was surrounded by a pool of blood. Pretty scary stuff huh?! Kay Hostetter is a great cheer leader and friend; she kept screaming Kat "wake up you must crawl to the door and unlock it." I regained consciousness and she kept cheering me to pull myself to the door and that was when I sort of realized my ankle was definitely broken and at an unusual angle. Fortunately for me Kay retired from 42 years as a Respiratory Therapist in Orthopedics. I lost consciousness again and the next thing I remember was opening my eyes and I saw the back of a man's jacket that said Emergency Air Flight. I remember that I asked if I was in a helicopter. Well of course I wasn't, I was in an Ambulance. The next time I came to I was surrounded by 3 surgeons discussing the surgery they were going to perform, and I went out again. So, they had to put a titanium plate and screws up both sides of my ankle and here I lay in a hospital bed a week later at Novant/New Hanover Regional Medical Center The fall occurred on 12/22/2022. It's more serious than I had thought or had prayed for anyway. We are waiting for Insurance approval to move me to a Skilled Nursing facility for 2 months of physical therapy before I can even put weight on that foot again. Kay took Marley home with her and Pal Sandi Parnell Norris is going to see Sable and feed her. Marley is trying to rule the house against Kay's beautiful Cocker Spaniel, Beauregard. It's always funny that the little 11 pounder has a Hitler complex. They are getting along better but she has extreme separation anxiety and yaps when left alone. I'm praying she behaves because she definitely can't pay an extra $200 pet deposit and $25 extra on her rent. We will have to figure out an answer to that problem, but Sandi Justice has offered her a temporary home and she might be able to take care of her if needed. That's about all except I only had about 1/2" cut in my scalp which is a very vascular area of the body & CT scans show that at least I'm not any crazier than my Abnormal self. Since this is the whole story, I'm going to try and share it on my FB page to answer the many questions. I tell you what, I have never felt so loved by friends and family stepping up to help. I know for sure that God wanted my attention, and he is handling this 100%. Time to slow down. I have many more lessons to learn. Thanks everyone and I'll keep you posted when I know where I land for the next leg of this journey. Oh, and thanks for stopping by Vicki. Sorry your other friend is here but I appreciate you stopping by to see me as well while you were here I love Y'all!
In a nutshell, Kat has had so many friends check on her, stop by, and asked... How can we help? Here it is! Please donate, pray, and share! If you would like to send a "Get Well Card" Please mail it to the address below:
