Help Kate Repair Ice Storm Damages

Donation protected
When my forested yurt home in Clackamas County survived the fires of 2020 I thought I had dodged a bullet.
But then it caught me on the ricochet.

Two fallen pine trees and another huge fir branch struck my small yurt sometime over the Valentine weekend.

The yurt was pretty extensively damaged: the roof canvas and insulation, both door jambs, one lattice wall, one canvas wall with window and insulation, two awning kits, 10 rafters, three wall supports, numerous reinforcing brackets.
But, the good news, it's a yurt. It's not cost prohibitive to repair. Like burning out a vintage VW Bug engine...you can get another with your tax returns.
The VW engine. Yurts aren't quite that cheap unless you're comparing them to stick built houses.

I estimate the yurt damage at $8000

There is damage to the platform, but I haven't made a full assessment yet of it's stability, and this fundraising goal does not include the cost of possible platform repairs. One support has broken at a knot, the whole thing has a slight ~5° lean.  I have hope that I can winch and buttress a solution. At the same time, the bamboo flooring has buckled, and I'm not certain it's just from water expansion.
The original cost of the platform was ~$3000

I've also lost three exterior structures: a large dog kennel outfitted for spring ducks (no ducks were housed at time of storm), and two greenhouses. One greenhouse was just housing firewood, but the other was my recently finished test duckuaponics greenhouse with PVC tubes, towers, pumps, grow lights, and also holding rakes, shovels, loppers, and such. If you can even see it (green plastic) in the pictures, I'm impressed, it's crushed absolutely flat.
Original cost (I have receipts still, it was all that new) of crunched duckuaponics structures and kit - $1000

Inside the yurt I'm pretty thankful. None of my books were damaged, my important documents were fine. My art and design portfolio, that also holds important memorabilia (I save all the cards y'all send me, you know who you are) and such was drenched, but I'm not put off by water stains and wrinkles.  None of the furnishings I made myself were damaged. My fireplace, chimney, and all of my kitchen appliances seem fine!

I'm suspicious that my TV is busted because a dropped rafter cracked the back of it, but I won't know until the power is back on.

My sewing machine was on the shelf immediately below the fir branch impact, and it shot clear across the yurt. If it still works I'll eat my hat.
My tablet weaving loom busted, but I can make another.

The vodka, gin, and tonic bottles survived, which I choose to take as a message (You deserve a drink!).
But all of my bourbon bottles broke! Which I choose to take as a different message (Care packages!?)
Mostly kidding, mostly.
The soy sauce broke too...if you ever get a chance to smell soy sauce mixed with bourbon, you should decline.

My Ipad is literally the only technologic doohickey that survived soaking. It's also my most despised tech. Everything else either got soaked on my computer table that sat right under the window, or sat in a drawer that filled with rain water.
Laptop, 2T external hardrive, mobile hotspot, bluetooth earbuds (the $20 replacement for the $90 pair that broke last month), three headlamps, two electric lanterns, radio, flashlights. The computer desk is where the power strip is, and where the fir branch hit. Sucks.
My estimate $1500

I lost a lot of glassware. My Sodastream is annihilated and I'm dying inside without carbonated water.

Oh, and Mr Big's chair is fine! It's fine everyone, we can all calm down now!

I'll makes updates as I know more, and upload more pictures when I have renewed emotional bandwith to spend on this infernal Apple contraption.
Thank you all, Sharon sends me your messages, and I can't tell you how much your support means to me. You make me feel safer in these hard times.

P.S. Yes, I do have renters insurance, but if you know anything about the drama surrounding my rental situation out in Beavercreek it probably won't surprise you to learn that I have neither changed my mailing address or renter's insurance address. We'll see if USAA really is on my side, I've been paying nonstop for renter's insurance for twice this amount since 2010, and USAA even carries the loan on my yurt, which I only have $900 left to pay.
