Help Kate Replace Her Flooded Car

My name is Kaitlyn but everyone knows me by Kate. I moved to Florida five years ago from Arizona. These past few years I’ve seen a good handful of storms but this is the first time it’s ever gotten this bad!

Around 2pm on Aug 4th, we had to move my car from the parking spot directly in front of my unit to just down the lot where there was an incline. We assumed due to the incline my 2001 Pontiac Sunfire (Ace) would be safe. We quickly learned we were wrong. We watched from our unit as the water quickly reached up the tires, then over my license plate, and up the doors. I’ve been sick these past few days so I was asleep during much of the storm.

When I woke up this morning around 6am, I went to check the water outside. It was still up the sidewalks and the dumpsters were still floating slightly. Around 8 when I came out again the water started to go down. I grabbed my keys and went to check on Ace. The moment I got to his door I saw it, my shoe in the back floating. My heart sank as I unlocked my door and opened it to find water had reached up the doors. I tried my best not to have a panic attack on sight but it was hard to see. I love Ace. He’s a fun little car and it breaks my heart to see him in such a shape. Right away I snapped pictures for insurance. Sadly, they will not be able to help since I only have basic coverage.

I just started my job for an event company and I’m enjoying myself but I have no money to put to a new car. I need to be able to travel to my event locations to work and I’m not sure how I’m gonna do that now. I’m asking for help to raise money for a down payment on a new vehicle.
