Help Kathleen Rebuild After Fire Loss
Donation protected
Longtime Lake Shrine devotee Kathleen Lynch lost her small apartment and all her possessions in the Palisades fire. All the funds collected will be deposited directly from GoFundMe into Kathleen's bank account to help cover needs not met by other sources of aid.
Kathleen was the event coordinator of Lake Shrine's 2000 Easter event. The photo above features all the volunteers, with Kathleen pictured in the front row in the middle.
Here is Kathleen's story in her own words:
I had served in just about every volunteer capacity at Lake Shrine since 1995 when the Temple was being built, but had to move out of state 10 years ago to care for my mom. Since her passing in 2016, I’ve been trying to get back to Lake Shrine and my spiritual family. I finally was able to return and move into my Pacific Palisades apartment in December 2022. I was home again!
My place was small, the rent high, but I was in heaven! I was serving on Friendship Tea and as a Windmill Chapel sitter. I was out of state visiting family when I started getting texts about evacuations in the Palisades on January 7, so I was spared from witnessing the fire and mass destruction. I was due to return on January 8, one day after the fire burned our building down.
I had lost my job as a medical assistant on December 17, and now have lost my home and all my possessions. Stuff can be replaced, and I am one of many who lost their home and livelihood. But with Master’s grace and the love and support of our spiritual community, we will get through this.
