Help Kathy Fight Cancer

Things you may not know about Santa...
Santa is a caring, compassionate, selfless woman. She has a husband, two sons, a daughter, and two grandsons. Santa has cancer. Since her diagnosis of endometrial cancer, while receiving chemotherapy herself, Santa dressed up, organized, collected, and distrubuted gifts to the patients receiving treatment with her at the ORMC (Orange Regional Medical Center) Cancer Treatment Center in Middletown, NY. She fought her cancer side by side with the other patients she named her "fellow cancer warriors," and wanted nothing more but to lift spirits and bring happiness to others.
Santa had a hysterectomy. She cried, she prayed, and she leaned on her friends and family in one of the darkest moments in her life. Santa finished her chemotherapy and radiation. She cried again as she looked in the mirror with no hair, no eyelashes, no trace of the woman she once saw looking back at her. But, Santa was jolly again when she heard the words she longed to hear, " You are cancer free." Santa continued to raise spirits and again, the next year, cancer free Santa gifted hope and joy with each package she distributed to the patients at ORMC's Cancer Treatment Center.
Santa is my friend. Her name is Kathy Horvath, and she was a registered nurse at Horton and ORMC for a combined 28 years. Cancer forced Kathy to retire, but she found a new calling becoming Santa each year for the patients at ORMC. This year, as she was getting ready to host "Operation Santa" again, Kathy learned through routine follow up blood work that her cancer markers were elevated. She had a catscan. She had a biopsy. The results are devastating. Kathy's cancer is back. This time its everywhere. Metastasis--a word darker than the blackest coal in a stocking at Christmas. Despite her circumstance, Kathy still plans to be Santa and help others this Christmas.
I am asking you this year to do your part to help ORMC's Santa, Kathy Horvath. Please if you can donate any amount to help this amazingly generous woman who's focus has ALWAYS been on helping others, then I am sure you can guarantee a spot on the "NICE LIST," if only in this Santa's heart.
