Help Kathy Lydon Survive Stage 3 Breast Cancer
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Michelle and I'm helping my childhood friend, Kathy Lydon (Bisbee) raise money for her battle to survive Stage 3 breast cancer.
Kathy's Family
Kathy and her family (especially her late mother Mary and father Joe who were beloved by all) have long been pillars of kindness in our community. Your support will not only be a gesture of gratitude to them, but will also alleviate the burden of financial worries, aiding in Kathy's journey towards a full recovery.
Kathy's Diagnosis
This fall, Kathy found a lump in her breast while performing a self breast examination in the shower. She immediately went to the doctor who informed her she had Stage 3 breast cancer and would need to begin treatment immediately.
Treatment plan
After deliberating with the doctor it was decided that every Wednesday Kathy would receive chemotherapy at Dana-Farber/Brigham and Women's Cancer Center in the South Shore. Currently, she is in week 4 of her 12-week chemo treatment plan. This will be followed by surgery in May 2024.
Each week, her children, friends, and extended family take turns to drive her and stay with her during the treatment.
Why she needs your help
Kathy has been self-employed as a home healthcare worker for several years. Her work has been primarily helping people maintain their day-to-day lives while struggling with serious health issues. Sadly, due to her illness, Kathy had to close the business this fall under doctors advice. It was a tough decisions since she loves the work - especially helping the elderly - but the work and traveling became just too strenuous to continue. Even more importantly, she cannot chance catching anything since her immune system is significantly compromised by the chemo.
Consequently, Kathy has no income.
Bills piling up
Despite Mass Health covering her medical expenses, Kathy struggles with monthly living costs, including her apartment rent and essential bills. We have applied for forgiveness due to medical emergency from National Grid and it looks promising (people really do want to help ❤️)
Grants $$ on the way!!
Luckily, there are grants out there that can help. At the moment, we are applying for many, including The Pink Fund, The Ellie Fund, Cancer Care, Family Reach, United Breast Cancer Foundation, and many others.
But, these applications take time to be approved.
This GoFundMe fundraiser will provide Kathy with crucial income to pay her bills and living expenses while receiving treatment and waits for potential grant funding. It will also give her peace of mind. ☮️ No amount is too small.
