Help Katie after Urgent Cancer Surgery
Donation protected
Update 11/16/2023: I appreciate all of the support from words of kindness and advice and donations. Thank you for your help! I am ending donations and am back, hard at work toward the new year.
Katie is a professional dog walker in Santa Barbara county. Five months ago, an ulcer developed on the left side of her tongue. It led to constant discomfort and pain, especially while eating. After dental appointments and a visit with her general practitioner, she was referred to Dr. Rebecca Golgert at Santa Barbara ENT.
On Monday September 18th, she visited SB ENT and had a biopsy taken from her tongue by Dr. Golgert’s PA, Raquel Romero. Days later on Thursday September 21st, Raquel called with the results. It was Invasive Squamous Carcinoma and the ENT team recommended urgent care that included a PET Scan and Surgical removal of the lesion.
After a week of perserverence, all procedures were performed successfully. Katie’s PET Scan results were isolated to her tongue and her immediate family gathered to assist with at home post-surgery recovery. While money has been provided to cover medical expenses by family, Katie will go ten days without work and bills are adding up.
Financial support will assist in paying for Katie’s rent, general bills, and car payments that remain for the months of October and November. The support she’s gained through kind words and informative advice have also been the best encouragement. Thank you for your support!
