Help Katie and Jeremy Start Their Family
Donation protected
Hello, allow me introduce me and my husband. My name is Katie and my husband’s name is Jeremy. We met while working at a grocery store while putting ourselves through school. Jeremy is a pilot and I am a massage therapist and dog sitter. We have 5 hens and a small orchard and berry garden in our backyard. We've been together since 2013 and have been married since 2018.
In November 2019 we started trying to grow our family. At the end of April 2020 I had my first positive pregnancy test. Seven weeks later I miscarried while Jeremy was out of state training for his new job. We tried again and at the end of August 2020 I had another positive pregnancy test. The same night I took the test I miscarried. This time I was three weeks pregnant. We continued to try on our own for the rest of 2020 but with no success. We talked to a few fertility specialists, as well as friends who have had fertility issues, and found a doctor we really liked. By the end of year 2021 we had done three IUIs (intra-uterine insemination) but never became pregnant. We continued trying and in January 2023 I started hormone treatments to do IVF. I only had five eggs grow big/mature enough. Only one of the five made it to six days growth. A sample of the placenta was sent to a lab for testing. The test revealed an extra chromosome and this embryo would also end up being miscarried.
Through various tests we’ve determined the issue is with my eggs. So I researched and talked to specialists about things I can do, foods I should eat and supplements I can take to try making my eggs healthy. After nine months of eating specific foods and supplements I became pregnant in December 2023. Five weeks later I miscarried, again. This year I continued with the food and supplement regimen but it’s been one year and still no pregnancy.
It’s not an easy decision to make but after all the struggles and disappointments me and Jeremy would like to move forward with donor eggs. The cost of all the previous treatments and tests was $30,000 and took all of our savings. We cannot raise the funds for donor eggs alone and we’re asking for your help. It's $20,000 for 6 eggs, $3,000 to thaw the eggs, $1,400 to fertilize the eggs, $1,500-$3,000 for genetic testing of the embryos depending on how many biopsies are sent, $1,000 to store them frozen while awaiting test results, $700 for medication to increase my chances of the embryo implanting, $3,500 to thaw and prep an embryo and then transfer to my uterus plus an ultrasound if I have a positive pregnancy test. I know this is a lot but depending on how many embryos make it through the thawing process this will give us 4-6 chances to become parents if the implantation is successful.
We know raising children isn’t always easy. But we look forward to experiencing the giggles & games of peek-a-boo along with the challenges and tantrums that come with child rearing. We want the opportunity to grow as a couple and a family. I want to experience all the joys and discomforts of being pregnant. I want to hear our children call Jeremy “daddy” and teach them how to grow vegetables and care for animals. Any help, no matter the amount is greatly appreciated. Thank you.
