Help Katie’s Mom, Lou Ann Tyndall, Live Longer
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Lorena Buchholz and I am Lou Ann Tyndall’s sister and Katie’s aunt and I will be helping Katie tell her story.
WHO IS KATIE AND WHY IS LOU ANN SO SPECIAL TO HER?
Katie is one of Lou Ann and her husband Lenny’s 9, both biological and adopted, children. Lou Ann and Lenny also have 11 grandchildren and have been foster parents to 68 children. Katie is Lou Ann’s special girl and loves her mom very much and is very worried about her. They have a very special bond.
CANCER DIAGNOSIS, GRUELING SURGERY AND TREATMENTS AND MOUNTING MEDICAL BILLS AND TRAVEL COSTS
Katie’s mom, LouAnn, was diagnosed with Stage 4 Endometrial Carcinoma in August 2020 in the middle of the Covid shutdowns where routine medical exams and screening were harder to schedule. She was very fortunate to find a very caring team at The Caldwell Cancer Center in Traverse City, Michigan who continue to tirelessly fight her aggressive form of cancer to this day despite setbacks. After numerous tests, scans, procedures and surgeries and 8 weeks of grueling radiation treatments from the past 2 years Lou Ann has learned from her latest scans that there are at least 3 new spots and a newer and more aggressive treatment is needed. She has many side effects and slow internal healing due to the damages radiation causes.
This ongoing tough cancer battle and new round of targeted internal radiation treatments and scans and other procedures will require 2 to 3 trips to the cancer center in Traverse City every week for the next few months at least with high fuel costs and hotel stays and meals and mounting medical bills. This is over an hour and a half drive each way. She is currently trying to pay small amounts on 83 bills to keep them from going to collections.
Lou Ann’s husband Lenny was also laid off from his job just before Christmas and will still be off for the next few months. While this will enable him to be able to be with her during her very painful treatments he is still required to pay his health insurance premiums of $422 a month from his small unemployment checks to keep their health insurance for Lou Ann to be able to receive treatment.
BACK ON THE HOMEFRONT
While Lou Ann and Lenny are away from home for her treatments, they have 3 older children left at home trying to hold down the fort. Ashely and Emma Rose are doing a wonderful job of keeping up the house and meals and taking care of Katie who misses her mom dearly and just wants her to be healthy again and able to stay home. Their other children have young families of their own but try to help by giving a gas card or restaurant gift card when able. This is a very close and loving family who are struggling with making ends meet during this tragic and prolonged fight for Lou Ann’s life.
KATIE’S WISH
Katie and her mom have a special tradition every day since Katie was 4 months old. Her mom Lou Ann sings to her every day the song “You are my Sunshine”. Even when Lou Ann is away at the cancer center for very painful and invasive treatments and procedures, she never misses calling her special girl Katie to sing her song to her. Katie’s birthday is January 18th and she just wants her mom to not be sick and be able to healthy again. ❤️
HOW YOU CAN HELP ?
Lou Ann’s very intense treatment schedule is already in the process and the need is great and urgent. Please if you are able, can you give a donation and help Katie’s mom try to beat this or prolong her time with Katie and the rest of her beloved family ? If you are able to donate we thank you from the bottom of our hearts and if you are not able to give a monetary donation at this time please keep Lou Ann and Katie and their family in your prayers. Many prayers are needed.
Lou Ann and Lenny have spent many years of their lives taking care of people, both children and adults and are always first to reach out to help anyone in need.
