Help Kay Get a Life-Saving Diabetic Alert Dog!
As many of you know, our sweet 4-year-old granddaughter, Kay, is a warrior. Born with Down Syndrome and recently diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes in June of 2024, she faces more challenges than most children her age. But through it all, she continues to shine with her infectious joy, determination, and boundless love for life.
Managing Type 1 Diabetes is a 24/7 job, and for a child like Kay—who may not always recognize when her blood sugar is dangerously high or low—it can be life-threatening. That’s why we are working towards getting her a diabetic alert dog, a highly trained companion that will detect changes in her blood sugar levels before they become dangerous.
A diabetic alert dog isn’t just a pet—it’s a lifesaving partner that will:
Alert us to dangerous blood sugar drops or spikes before they become an emergency.
Provide Kay with greater independence and security as she grows.
Prevent potential medical crises, giving us peace of mind at night and during daily activities.
Offer unwavering companionship and emotional support, helping her live a happy, carefree life.
These incredible service dogs are expensive to train and place, and we are humbly asking for your support in making this dream a reality for Kay. Any donation, big or small, brings us one step closer to giving her this vital gift of safety and freedom.
If you are unable to donate, sharing our story means the world to us. Thank you for being part of Kay’s journey and helping us give her every opportunity to thrive.
With love and gratitude,
Tina and Darren Chapman
