Help Kaycen and Kaur Heal After Tragic Accident

Donation protected
Hello, my name is Kristi and I am starting this for my old co-worker and his wife whose 2 minor children were involved in an accident on February 23, 2025. The accident occurred in Huntsville, Alabama on Blue Springs Road when their Aunt was taking them to get ice cream and were hit head on by an alleged drunk driver going the wrong way. Below is an update posted from last night! All funds will help with travel, food, etc in going back and forth from Huntsville and Birmingham! Whatever is remaining will go towards Medical bills and therapy as it is going to be a long road to recovery!

Update #2
**Medical Update:**
Kaur has successfully emerged from surgery, which went as planned. An X-ray of her lower body revealed a fractured leg, necessitating the application of a cast for proper immobilization and healing.

Regarding Kaycen, his surgeon has informed us that he is experiencing a separation of the spine and pelvis, requiring surgical intervention for repair. Additionally, Kaycen has been diagnosed with commotio retinae, which will require careful monitoring to prevent any detachment of the retina. He is scheduled for a follow-up appointment in Birmingham in two weeks.

As of 9:25 PM on February 24, Kaycen underwent emergency surgery to address issues with his bowel and intestines, resulting in the removal of a portion from both. We are pleased to report that this surgery was successful.

We will continue to provide updates as we receive more information. Thank you for your support during this time.

Update #1
I wanted to take a moment to provide an update on Kaycen and Kaur, as I am currently unable to respond to everyone individually.

Kaycen has just been settled into his room at the Children's Hospital in Birmingham. He underwent several CT scans, which will help determine his surgical needs moving forward. Despite the circumstances, he has shown remarkable bravery. He has sustained fractures to his skull, pelvis, and back.

Kaur has undergone emergency surgery for a bowel perforation. The surgery was successful; however, they had to remove 12 cm of her bowel and insert a feeding tube. She will remain in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) for the next 2-3 days before transitioning to a regular patient room at Huntsville Hospital. We are hopeful that her recovery will take a week or less.

Kaycen's recovery will be longer, and he will remain in Birmingham until he is stable enough to return home. I sincerely appreciate all the prayers and support during this challenging time. I will respond to messages as I am able.

Additionally, please keep their aunt and her daughter in your thoughts and prayers. We are also mourning the loss of their older cousin, LaBronte, who was involved in the accident.

Thank you all for your continued support and prayers. God bless you.
