Help Kayla and Ezra Rebuild After Tragedy

Donation protected

Hello friends, family and community,

I am a Special Education teacher in the community and a member of the community. Today, one of our brilliant little students, Ezra, their mother Kayla, and her boyfriend suffered a brutal attack at the hands of the husband from which she was separated. Their family moved up here last year from Flordia with their sweet little guy who joined our classroom and they soon became a part of our little school family.

During this time up here, their lives changed and Kayla, Ezra's mother, began to separate from her husband. The separation had not been easy and she was doing everything she could to make sure her son never felt the impact and made sure his needs were met. Today, they were attacked by her husband. After she dropped her son off with him for a visit, he proceeded to follow her in his vehicle, with their son in the backseat, to where she was picking up her partner, and her husband shot at them while driving by. They both attempted to flee in their vehicle from the shots, to which her husband chased them down and pursued them in a high-speed chase while continuing to shoot at them. When he was not successful that way, he speed passed, made a U-turn, and rammed their vehicle head-on. This led to them exiting the vehicle, at which point he pulled the gun again and shot the boyfriend in the abdomen. The altercation continued with her and her husband and thankfully the gun was knocked away from her husband during a physical fight for their lives, and they were able to hold him down until police officers arrived.

Her boyfriend was airlifted to Harbor View and Ezra and Kayla walked away with minor physical injuries, but not without trauma and physical loss.

Kayla has been working hard to support Ezra physically, mentally, and emotionally throughout this separation. This impact on their lives is substantial. I am hoping that we can help support them in the smallest way by helping her get a new vehicle that she can use. Unfortunately during the separation, her husband had canceled all insurance on their vehicle and she is not able to replace it that way. This will help us find her a used vehicle to get around and ensure she has the means to get to work and continue to support her most amazing son. This is just a small token and a way that we can help support her in this terrible time.

Any amount that you can give can help us support her and her amazing son. Please help and share the word around so that we can help this family on their healing journey.
