Help Kayla, Trevor, Izik and Lisa with expenses
Kayla, Trevor, Izik and Lisa (Trevor's mom) were involved in a car accident this past weekend. The funds will go directly to the family to help with any expenses while they focus on healing and being with Izik and Lisa. Below is the latest update from Kayla's mom, Missy.
"Here is an update on the aftermath of the horrendous vehicle accident Kayla, Trever, his mom Lisa and Izik were in. This is a complete list of the injuries sustained and what I know. Some will be a repeat but I wanted it to all be together in case I missed anything the first time to allow specific prayers. I’ll tell the positives first. Trever has many staples in his head for lacerations, a very bruised collarbone, multiple lacerations and a broken leg. He was not admitted so he is able to be with Izik. Kayla has burns from the seat belt that are bad but won’t require debridement, a very bruised sternum, and multiple bruises and lacerations. Her legs are very cut up and bruised. She has no broken bones and was not admitted so she can be with Izik also. Now to start the harder ones. Lisa, Trever’s Mom was ejected from the truck and has a broken arm with fractures basically from her shoulder to fingers. They thought she was going to lose a partial part of her arm but were able to set everything and they only had to take one finger. All of her ribs and jaw were fractured, and multiple injuries to face that will require surgery and plastic surgery. She is on a vent but is awake and able to communicate by squeezes of hands for yes and gives a thumbs up. She is in ICU but in stable condition. Her prognosis is good. And now for the hardest one that breaks my heart beyond imagination. Izik was thrown from back seat between the bucket seats in the front and hit the windshield. The truck was on fire and Trever and Kayla were able to get him out and and away from the truck. He was unconscious and has not regained consciousness. His injuries are as follows. Frontal skull fracture, brain swelling and brain bleeding. Multiple facial fractures. His body from shoulders down has no fractures and minimal lacerations. He had emergency surgery to remove a portion of his skull to relieve the pressure. He is on a vent, and they are doing everything to assist his bodily functions to allow it to rest as much as possible. He has a gastric tube down his throat along side the vent that is removing all contents from stomach. He has a central line in the groin area to allow the 10 medications and saline to be administered with less invasion. He is a C collar to prevent neck movement. Due to his brain injuries they have not been able to do a MRI. The doctor said he was hopeful for recovery. Once the brain swelling and bleeding have been resolved they will start doing necessary surgeries. As of last night the prognosis and treatment plan for him was to be transferred to a specialized pediatric rehab when he is able. No timeframe of when this will happen. They believe he will require a trach and g tube that they are hopeful is temporary. At this point there is no determination of the extent of damage and how it will affect him in the future. A positive is last night when the nurse and Pediatric PA went in to do a few things they were certain he flipped them off!! Maybe not the most appropriate sign of purposeful reaction and movement, but we will take it! I had just left the hospital to get to the hotel so I missed it! This is the absolute worst thing I believe I’ve gone through. The hurt of seeing it all and the helplessness I feel to do something to fix everyone but mostly Izik is overwhelming. This is going to be a long road to recovery. The doctor said with kids you never know if they will start bouncing back quickly during the rehab stage or have a difficult time. His age is a definite plus because as we all know kids are strong and more resilient than adults. Thank you all for the prayers, comments and support. We know they are heard and so appreciated."
