Help Kaytlin to Recover

Donation protected
Hi, my name is Cathy and I am hoping to get your help. My niece Kaytlin Mitchell Williamson is 24 years old and a wonderful single mommy to a 3 year-old son. It has been an incredibly frightening time in her life.

Over a month ago (10/12/22) Kaytlin was abruptly admitted to Abbott Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis with hopes to finally get answers to what was going on with her health. For those who don’t know, Kaytlin was 20 weeks pregnant at the time. She was having severe stomach issues, dehydration and fatigue for a couple weeks prior. She went to the Mayo Clinic ER four times, with them sending her home after a “quick fix”. Her friend knew something wasn’t right and took her to Saint Peter ER, where they gave her an IV for severe dehydration and checked her hemoglobin, which was at 6.4 (11.6 - 15 is normal). They said she needed to be admitted somewhere right away. They eventually got her into where she is now. Upon arriving at Abbott she had to have an emergency ileostomy bag placed due to an inflamed and infected colon. She ended up needing her large intestine removed.

She was hoping to heal and gain strength, however she unfortunately went into labor and August James Sullivan Mitchell was born on October 20 already resting peacefully in Heaven. During this heartbreaking process, she needed an emergency D&C and then went into sepsis due to an underlying infection. She now has another infection in her incisions and a hole in her intestines called a fistula that is leaking out of her incision. The doctors are hoping to correct this through yet another major surgery in 3-4 months. She is also doing physical therapy while in the hospital to regain strength in her legs so she is able to stand and walk again without assistance, this will continue once at home again.

During this long and painful month, she’s been away from her three-year-old son.

Her best friend, Callie, bless her, stepped in and has been taking care of Kaeleb and bringing him up to the cities at least once a week to visit his Mommy (they live about 1.5 hours south). November 13th marked a year since her beloved mother passed away, making this even more heartbreaking. Her mother would have been by her side 24/7 making sure she was getting the best care. As difficult as this time is for Kaytlin, she’s a very strong and resilient young woman who undoubtedly will make a recovery and return to her life as being a great mom. However, things will still be difficult. With an undetermined return date to home, hopefully in the near future, she’s going to need all the help she can get.

All the money raised will go directly to Kaytlin to provide a funeral service for August, care that is much needed for Kaeleb, and basic necessities once she’s recovered. Please join me in relieving some financial stress and burden off of Kayltin so she can focus on what’s more important at this time… getting herself better. Please continue keeping her and her son in your thoughts and prayers.
