Please Help Keavan Heal From a Terrible Accident

Donation protected

On April 29th, our dear friend Keavan Rivers was in a horrible accident on the island of Maui in Hawai‘i. While riding his scooter in Lahaina, he was hit by not one, but TWO cars, and dragged a distance by the second car. It's a miracle that he is alive. The accident caused extensive injuries, including a punctured lung, a shattered/punctured spleen, a broken neck, a broken back in three places, a bad compound break in his arm, and ten broken ribs.

Keavan was rushed to Maui Memorial Hospital and was in the ICU for some time, and then in regular hospital care a bit longer.

Here is a message from Keavan, sent from his hospital bed:

"I’m the luckiest person in the world. Not so much that this should have killed me, but the amount of beautiful people that I know all over the world that have reached out during all of this - it is humbling. You are my family. I love all of you, thank you so much for all the support, I honestly can’t find words......This is the most pain I’ve ever been in in my life. Honestly, thank each and every one of you so very much."

Keavan was discharged from the hospital on May 10th and has still been in a lot of pain, with extensive physical limitations and a long road of recovery ahead of him.

This means that Keavan won't be able to do his usual work to make ends meet, and will need support from the community, which he would never in a million years ask for himself. So, his friends are asking on his behalf. Every donation counts, even as little as $5.

A group of friends on Maui are pitching in to help him get to his doctor appointments, physically get him situated in his new apartment (he was in the middle of moving when this happened and he cannot lift or carry anything right now), get in-home care support for basic needs, bring him home made meals, help him problem solve, etc.

We have set up this GoFundMe account to help to keep him on a firm foundation while he heals. He will also need a considerable amount of financial and professional support to get him through this period of healing - basic life expenses (rent, utilities, food) and any health care expenses that have to come out of pocket—likely several month’s worth—until he can work again.

Mahalo in advance for your generosity. Thank you for helping our friend heal.
