Help keep Chakib alive

Our father-in-law, Chakib Abi-Saab (Sr) lives in Venezuela and worked all his life as an electrical engineer for the largest Oil State Company. Along with our mother-in-law, he raised a beautiful family of three, and he is the pillar of our family and happiness. He has eight grandchildren and has one on the way.

Fourteen years ago, Mr. Chakib went through a heart transplant, and he has had a good, quiet, healthy life since then. Unfortunately, everything changed two weeks ago when he got infected with COVID 19. Because of his heart transplant, his immune system is restricted, and the COVID virus greatly affected his lungs, kidneys and created a blood clog that is currently being treated. Mr. Chakib has been in ICU at the Metropolitan Policlinic in Caracas (Venezuela) for two weeks now. Our husbands (his children) have made a significant financial effort to keep him alive as the doctors believe he will live if he can remain in ICU for an undetermined period while they continue to treat him. Unfortunately, the upcoming costs are likely above our means, and we have created this "gofundme" to help our father-in-law and our husbands. His children, Farid, Chakib, and Jeniffer, have contributed sixty thousand dollars so far, and we will likely incur in another twenty to forty thousand dollars, depending on the speed of his recovery.

Knowing how good our father-in-law is, and seeing the major effort from our husbands, we felt we should help in any way we can. Given the extensive and unplanned financial burden, we hope to get any assistance that we can get from friends, colleagues, and anyone with the means that wants to help. Any contribution would mean the world to us. Our family is our world, and Mr. Chakib is the pillar of our family.

The good news is that we have faith and the doctors are optimistic that he will likely live. We hope this campaign helps us raise the necessary funds to keep our loved father-in-law under the proper care. Thus we thank you with humbleness and love for any contribution you can give us.
