It is a judgement free safe space and always will be. We are like a family ❤️
We started off in a church and we were getting so many people coming to us we knew we needed to expand. So, we got our own premises on Princes Road.

- Last Sunday of every month for a Sunday roast.
**We also run one evening a week for local sex workers and vulnerable women alongside the sexual exploitation team and the police**
We are currently serving around 70-100 people each day were open (including children)
Doorways Middlesbrough established the charity as it became apparent witnessing at grass roots level when volunteering in the community that this type of service provision was required in the community.
Doorways hold a data base of volunteers with a collection of skills, cooks, former professionals in health care, teachers, vulnerable adult safeguarding leads and care givers. All volunteers are required to take up to date adult safeguarding training and commit to follow Doorways policies.
We engage with clients, offer a sign posting service and has established links with other statutory practitioners, health and addiction services, local PCSO officers, Local Authority Homeless Team, The Live Well Centre, Changing Futures-Addiction Service, Citizens Advice, Welfare Rights.
NHS support our clients with Hepatitis B testing and follow up appointments. NHS also deliver training to volunteers for Naloxone injection administration, a medication used to block the effects of opioids overdose.
Most users of Doorways have very little or no support and depend on and trust our service provision knowing they can turn to our charity offering food and other services. For most clients it will be the only meal they have that day and interaction with others.
Doorways reinforce and provide assistance to those in the community experiencing poverty and hardship, this has an immense impact on our client’s lives and knowing they have dedicated volunteer and practitioner support who they can turn to for help and assistance for their daily needs.
To be completely open and transparent as we are a newly registered charity we don't meet the criteria for a lot of funding grants. We (Volunteers and trustees) funded the church amongst ourselves because we didn't want to see people hungry. We have been extremely lucky that we are now receiving some grants to help towards our premises as we had to completely renovate our premises and buy everything we needed from scratch IE; oven, table & chairs, bain maries, heat lamps, microwaves, tea urn, plates and cutlery, mugs and everything else we needed.
Homelessness has always been a pressing issue in our community, but the pandemic and the cost of living crisis has made the situation even more dire. As the number of people struggling with unemployment and housing insecurity continues to rise, we are seeing more and more individuals and families in need of our services.
We are reaching out to our community to help us raise funds so we can keep our premises and continue to provide the necessary services. We aim to raise the money required to pay for rent, utility bills, and other operational expenses, ensuring that we can continue providing critical services in our community.
So with your help we will be able to open up and feed, support and help our services users.
We need help with:
RENT £750 MONTHLY
£9000 YEARLY
£3000 YEARLY FOR RUNNING COSTS IE; GAS AND ELECTRIC, WATER RATES ETC
By donating to our charity, you can help us make a difference to those who need it the most. Your contribution will help us keep our doors open, provide help for the homeless, food to the needy, and support to those struggling with addictions. Let us stand together in helping the vulnerable and spread love in our community. Thank you in advance for your help, and we appreciate any support you can offer❤️❤️
**We know we won't meet our target quickly or even at all but it would be great to get some help towards our rent monthly by this method**
