Help Us Maintain the Lafayette-Pointer Park Tennis Courts!
Tax deductible
Greetings Tennis Community!
We have exciting news to share! The non-profit Lafayette Tennis Association (LTA) has finally received approval from the City to repair and resurface the four Lafayette-Pointer Park tennis courts. LTA has contracted with Tennis Courts Inc., the same professional company that prepares the courts for the Mubadala Citi Open professional men’s and women’s tennis tournament in Rock Creek Park here in Washington, DC. Work began on August 26. and we hope to complete the project by September 9, weather permitting.
This resurfacing effort has taken LTA over two years, driven by a determined team led by LTA Founder and Co-Director Paul Rosenbaum. The total cost is $75,000, a substantial sum for our small non-profit association. We are so grateful to each of you who have made this funding possible by participating in our adult and youth programs. We also want to acknowledge the Frick Foundation’s generous gift of $7000 which has gone directly to resurfacing work.
The tennis courts have not had their cracks or surfaces repaired for 10 years. While the courts are owned by the City, we understand that the City has many other demands on its budget. Most city agencies have had their budgets cut for fiscal year 2025. LTA is happy to contribute its saved revenues to accomplish this much needed resurfacing project. We hope to get involved in future repair projects on nearby public tennis courts.
Court resurfacing is of course absolutely necessary to keep the tennis courts playable and safe. But continued maintenance afterwards is just as critical. Fences and gates need to be maintained, debris swept, trees pruned, moisture and mold removed, nets replaced. LTA is ready to continue to provide these services, but we need your help!
LTA is establishing an Annual Maintenance Fund, with a minimum goal of raising $10,000 during the coming year. We will oversee and keep everyone updated on the maintenance work we perform to keep our newly resurfaced courts in tip-top shape for the enjoyment of our wonderful tennis community.
Would you please support this Go Fund Me effort? LTA is an established 501(c)(3) non-profit and all donations are fully tax deductible. Go Fund Me will email you a receipt for your donation.
Thank you!
